Special Message to the Michigan Arab Orchestra “Layali Zaman” Show Tonight :
Today, Friday, March 30, 2012. Doors will open at 7:00pm. The Michigan Arab Orchestra will be holding its third concert of their first inaugural season, and also marks the launch of ADC’s 1st Annual Cultural Night. The event will be held at the Fordson High School Theater located at 13800 Ford Rd. in Dearborn. The DOORS will open at 7:00PM and the show will begin at 7:30PM promptly. The Concert is free and open to the public. Join us and enjoy one of the most spectacular events of music and art. Bring your family members and friends. It’s our rich culture that makes us proud of who we are. We hope to see you there!
ADC Greater Detroit Chapter Announces its Cultural Night the Excellence in Literature and Art Awardees:
The ADC Greater Detroit Chapter is pleased to announce its Excellence in Literature and Art Award recipients at this “Cultural Night”:
Mr. Abdul Nabi Bazzi – A longtime community activist, Mr. Bazzi co-founded the Bint Jebail Social & Knowledge Association. He has published books discussing the community’s social, political, and religious affairs. His publications include: “Fayd Al Walaa” and “Dewan Em El Qura.”
Dr. Sahib Thabab – A Ph.D in Economics, he worked for years with the League of Arab States as Economical Advisor, Analyst and Director. He also hosts Al-Saloon Al Adabi each year which includes a number of Arab American poets, authors, and scholars.
Mr. Najee Mondalek – A popular and a renowned comedian, artist, actor, writer, producer, and director of the play “Im Hussein.” and several other unique productions. He also founded the first Arab-American theater group in North America “AJYAL.”
Dr. Wijdan Al-Sayigh – A noted author, she has published 24 books which deal with social, political, and religious taboos. Her publications have won her the Women’s Creations in Literature Award and the Al-Afif Cultural Award for Literature and Arts.
ADC Michigan to Speak at Wayne State Law “Racial Profiling and Youth of Color…Is It Safe to be Me?” Event
On Monday, April 2nd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Wayne State Law School will host a community discussion on Racial Profiling. ADC Michigan’s Advisory Board President, Attorney Shereef Akeel will speak at the event. It will be held in the Damon J. Keith Auditorium at Wayne State Law School.
ADC Michigan to Participate in Panel on: A Year in Tahrir: The Future of the Arab Spring and its Implications in the US
On Saturday, April 14th from 9:00am – 4:30pm, the Program for International Legal Studies at Wayne State Law School, along with the National Security Network and the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding is hosting a conference to discuss the Future of the Arab Spring and its Implications in the United States. ADC Michigan’s Director Imad Hamad will be participating in a panel discussion about how Arabs are viewed and perceived around the world. Islamic Institute of Knowledge to Host Annual Fundraising Dinner

Students Taking Action Today to hold its First Annual Dinner
On Friday, April 13, 2012 6:00PM, Students Taking Action Today is proud to announce their first annual dinner on the 13th of April at Byblos Banquets. The event is titled Peer Motivation, and will unveil a plan to resolve the problems of the education system with community involvement. Tickets are $25. Ford Motor Company Begins Drive One For Your School Fundraising Event

Fordson High School PTSA to hold 2nd Annual Taste of Fordson
On Wednesday, April 18th from 3:00 – 7:00pm the Fordson High School PTSA will be selling tickets for food samples at the Fordson High School Big Gym (13800 Ford Rd., Dearborn MI 48126). Tickets will costs $10 for 12 samples or $1 per single sample. The proceeds for the event will go to benefit the PTSA scholarship program. Bint Jebail Cultural Center to Host its 18th Annual Scholarship Ceremony
On Friday, April 27, 2012, Bint Jebail Cultural Center will host its 18th Annual Scholarship Ceremony at its center located at 6220 Miller Road in Dearborn. The BJCC has awarded nearly $500,000 to high school seniors since 1994. Every year, 100 students apply and approximately 40 to 50 receive awards of $500 each. Dearborn Goes Green Creates “Camp ReThink” this Summer
Dearborn Goes Green is sponsoring a "Camp ReThink" for kids from the ages of 9 to 12. The primary objective of Camp ReThink is to teach youth to engineer and create and is focused on helping to mold leaders of tomorrow by showing children how to tap into their own potential. The camp will be held in Holly, MI from August 3rd to August 5th. Transportation will be provided and there is absolutely no cost for kids! Food (with the option of Halal food) will be provided as well. Many safety precautions have been taken: Dearborn Goes Green is sponsoring one college student volunteer for every five kids and Avancemos! Educational Company is sponsoring one adult volunteer for ever two kids. Additionally, Camp Ohiyesa provides camp counselors.
