ADC Regional Director Reappointed to US Commission on Civil Rights
ADC Michigan extends its congratulations to Senior National Advisor and Regional Director Imad Hamad, who was recently reappointed to serve on the Michigan Committee of the US Commission on Civil Rights.  Hamad was originally appointed to the Committee in July of 2007.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) is part of the executive branch of the federal government that advises the President and U.S. Congress on civil rights mattersThe Commission is composed of eight Commissioners: four appointed by the President and four by Congress and also has 51 State Advisory Committees (SAC) - one for each state and the District of Columbia . Each is composed of citizens familiar with local and state civil rights issues. The members assist the Commission with its fact-finding, investigative, and information dissemination functions.  Individual members of these committees are recommended by the regional director of their area, approved by the Staff Director, and voted upon at a regular meeting of the Commissioners.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the members of this prestigious Commission to help promote civil rights and civil liberties on a local and national level,” states Hamad.  “During these challenging times, we must make every effort to engage in constructive dialogue with one another.”
