The Michigan Civil Rights Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights are launching a Youth Advisory Council pilot program for highly motivated students committed to social and racial justice This program is open to students in 10th through 12th grades, who live in or attend school in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston or Monroe counties. The Civil Rights Commission expects to open this program to the entire state based on the success of the pilot program.  Students who are interested in participating must submit a 500-word essay and submit is by May 15, 2009.
