This past weekend, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) held its Annual National Convention at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. This year’s convention drew a large crowd who gathered to participate in panel discussions and workshops that were focused on issues pertinent to the Arab American community.  The event featured a keynoted address by President William J. Clinton, who spoke to a packed audience during the Saturday Evening Gala.   The convention also featured an address by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute, who spoke during the Annual Civil Rights Awards Luncheon.

Also during the convention, Congressman John Dingell (D-MI), was presented with ADC’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding service to his constituents during his long career in the U.S. Congress.  Among the other award recipients were Hasan and Shereen Newash, who received the Alex Odeh Memorial Award for their work with the community through the Palestine Office- Michigan.
