On July 23, 2009, ADC Michigan Advisory Board member, Atty. Ihsan Alkhatib participated in “Turmoil in the Middle East,” the first installment in “Forward Conversations” presented by Michigan Forward and Detroit Young Professionals to expose the Greater Detroit community to domestic and foreign issues that are of importance to Greater Detroit.
The July 23 segment focused on President Obama’s Cairo speech and the proposed two -state solution to the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict. During the discussion, Atty. Alkhatib spoke about the importance of going beyond the headline news on the conflict and understanding its history, as well as the hopes and difficulties involved in the two-state solution.
“It is not possible to overestimate the importance of the Arab-Israeli conflict resolution to the future of the Middle East and the world,” said Imad Hamad, ADC Michigan Regional Director. “ADC is committed to continued engagement and dialogue and is hopeful that events such as Forward Conversation would increase awareness of the issues and interest in contributing to its resolution.”
