ADC to Honor Judge Damon Keith and Judge Marilyn Kelly at 8th Annual Judges Night Reception
On Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 6:00 p.m., the ADC Michigan Advisory Board will host its 8th Annual Judges Night Reception at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center (6220 Miller Rd.) in Dearborn . This event is by invitation only.
The purpose of ADC’s Judges Night reception, which is an annual event, is to recognize and honor local judges whose work in upholding Civil Rights has been exemplary. Recipients of this year’s Guardian of Justice Award are Senior Judge Damon Keith, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, and Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly, Michigan Supreme Court. These Judges are being recognized for their commitment to justice and civil rights within their courtrooms. ADC is pleased to honor such distinguished members of the bench.
ADC Michigan is also pleased to announce that Portia Roberson, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Liaison, U.S. Department of Justice, will serve as this year’s keynote speaker.
In recent years, this annual event has attracted prestigious members of the U.S. judiciary and honored award recipients including: Hon. Thomas, Wayne County Circuit Court; Hon. Mary Beth Kelly, Chief Judge, Wayne County Circuit Court, Hon. Marianne O. Battani, U.S. District Court; Hon. Avern Cohen, U.S. District Court; Hon. Steven Pepe, Magistrate, U.S. District Court; Hon. Margie Braxton, Wayne County Circuit Court; Hon. Leo Foran, Dearborn Heights District Court, and Hon. George Caram Steeh, U.S. District Court.
